Frequently Asked Questions

1Are there medical benefits to visiting our spa?
The number one guaranteed benefit of visiting our Spa is your immersion in a relaxing, stress reducing environment. Stress reduction is one of the major contributors to good health. In addition, many of our Spa treatments are geared to easing aches and pains in many varieties.
2What skin products do you use?
At Mandara Spa we proudly use Guinot and Swissline, two luxurious skincare brands from renowned dermatology labs in Paris and Switzerland. Our products are inspired by anti-aging themes to deliver beauty to all our clients. A quick consultation or the judgment of the qualified staff at Mandara Spa will make this decision easy.
3How often do you recommend getting a facial or a massage treatment?
Ideally for a facial, it depends on your skin. We advise monthly facials to let your skin rest and glow before the next facial and a massage twice a month to relieve stress and deep seated tension in the body.
4How many kinds of massages are there, and how do I choose the right one for me?
There are at least six popular massage techniques - from classic Swedish to Hot Stone. A Massage Therapist can help you decide on the right one for you – if you want to simply relax, for example, or relieve muscular tension.
5I am getting married. How soon should I start having treatments/pampering days?
Normally we advise 2 months in advance. For facials we recommend one a month and another a week before the wedding day. The rest of the pamper package aside the facial is advised a few days for longer lasting fresh results!
6Should I alert someone if I have any health concerns?
Please notify a Spa receptionist before booking treatments if you are pregnant, have allergies, high blood pressure, any physical ailments, or disabilities. This will prepare our staff far in advance to provide the best possible Spa treatment or therapy for you. When receiving your treatment, the technician will address your needs based on your personal assessment. They will speak to you about the temperature, pressure, music, product, and sequence of service they are providing. You may also communicate to us how you are feeling during your service. If there is anything you would like us to address, please inform the technician.
7Should I visit the spa if I’m pregnant?
Yes, by all means. Our therapists are fully trained to provide special treatments and services safely during pregnancy. We advise you on treatments to avoid using deep pressure and involving heat.
8Can I ask the therapist to adjust certain things to increase my comfort?
Absolutely, it is your time, you should enjoy the experience. Ask to adjust problem areas, for example, or the amount of pressure applied during your massage.
9Is there a limit to the number of spa treatments I should plan in one day?
No, however, three hours of treatment is usually recommended in one day.
10I have health insurance. Do you provide receipts for treatments such as massage?
Yes, we do. Provide your company with the treatment receipt you receive at the end of your treatment.
11When are your last bookings?
As our spa closes at 7pm (unless holiday or special occasions), we would love to give your treatment the full care and attention it deserves. We advise people to book at least 24 hours in advance and turn up 5 minutes early before their treatment.
12Can I request a male or female therapist?
You may request a specific gender massage therapist and/or esthetician while booking an appointment. We can not guarantee that we will have your request available at all times. All Spa employees are trained to respect the privacy of our guests and to create a comfortable relaxing environment for all.
13What do I wear for a massage or body treatment?
Mandara Spa does not require any dress code; it is a clothing optional environment. It is recommended that during a Body Treatment or Massage that those treatments are enjoyed without clothing although undergarments may be worn if preferred. Professional draping is performed throughout the duration of the service.
14Can I wear make-up?
You are welcome to wear make-up, but it will be removed before certain treatments, such as facials.
15Can I shave before a treatment?
Shaving is not recommended before a Body Treatment or Men’s Facial. If you choose to shave, please shave at least four hours prior to your service.

Spa Etiquette

1Is there such a thing as 'spa etiquette'?
Yes. To ensure that you and those around you reap the full benefits of our Spa, please keep in mind the following etiquette tips: Arrive early. Get the most out of your Spa experience. Arriving late will cheat you of precious minutes of your treatment. Remember that your treatment will end on time so the next client isn't delayed, regardless of how late you start. Respect other guests. Our Spa environment is one of tranquility and relaxation, so please respect the right to privacy and relaxation of other guests. Also, please turn off (or mute) your cell-phones and keep all voices down. Including you, our guests expect and deserve a quiet and relaxing atmosphere while they receive their spa services.
2How early should I arrive for my spa treatment?
We recommend that you arrive a minimum of 5 minutes prior to your first appointment, to allow yourself ample time to fill out our intake form, change and familiarize yourself with our facility.
3Should I tip my therapist?
Gratuities are given at your discretion and will be accepted with appreciation. If you have a spa gift certificate, you may ask the receptionist if the tip was included in the purchase. As a suggestion, we recommend 15% for good service and 20% for excellent service.
4Where can I leave my belongings?
The spa is a very safe environment. We usually request our clients to keep their small belongings with them, however for bigger items we do have a spare room that is locked for your safety to keep your belongings out of sight.
